Description
Your purchase includes:
- 3 sterilised, ready-to-use bags filled with 1 kg of brown rice flour and vermiculite. Each bag features a self-healing injection port for easy use.
- ย alcohol wipes to clean injection port
These Organic Brown Rice Flour (BRF) & Vermiculite bags are thoughtfully designed to offer the ideal environment for mycelium colonisation. While they may not yield a heavy flush of mushrooms, they are optimised for rapid colonisation and fruiting. They are fruited once its fully colonised and then taken out of tehir bag somewhere humid.
Procedure for Use:
- Once your bag is fully colonised, remove it from the mushroom grow bag.
- Introduce it to a fruiting chamber. There are plenty of DIY tutorials on how to create your own fruiting chamber on YouTube , you can also use our inflatable monotub.
One simple method involves setting up a fruiting chamber filled with Perlite (available at Bunnings). Just add some water and place the colonized bags on top of a piece of cardboard wrapped in aluminum foil to avoid contact with the Perlite. Ensure not to add too much water; the aim is to maintain humidity inside the fruiting chamber.
Inoculation Process:
- In a clean environment, wipe the injection port with an alcohol wipe or spray it with isopropyl alcohol.
- Shake the LC syringe, sterilize the needle with a flame, then let it cool for a few seconds.
- Inject about 5ml of liquid culture or spore solution into the Brown Rice Flour + Vermiculite Bag.
Fruiting Process:
- Once the mycelium block is fully colonized, cut open the bag and place the contents in the fruiting chamber. Depending on the variety, mushrooms should begin to appear within 7-8 days.
- After your first harvest, rehydrate your mycelium block by submerging it in sterile water in the fridge overnight (use boiled water that has cooled down). It will then be ready for a second flush.
These bags are not suitable to be used for growing mushroom in a monotub with more substrate. BRF bags is a traditional way of growing mushroom for someone who does not want to research and want a quick grow sacrificing 80% yield. I fyou want a better way of growing look at teh video on our Inflatable monotub listing and start with a all in one bag or a grain bag.
It’s essential to maintain sterile techniques, especially during the second or third flush, as the risk of contamination increases.
We recommend using the bags as soon as possible to minimise the chance of contamination. Only order these bags when you have the liquid culture or spore syringe in hand.
With our kit, you can enjoy growing your own mushrooms in less than a month. If you encounter any issues, we’re always here to assist you.
