About this Kit

Zero maintenance kit

Complete Kit: Everything you need is included.

This kit uses a special Master’s Mix,  blend of sawdust, soy pellets, and water. It’s inoculated with about 300 grams of organic rye or millet grain spawn to give your mushrooms the best start.

We keep things simple and affordable by sending you a fresh, made-to-order bag, just like real mushroom farms use. No fancy boxes, no sitting in cold storage for weeks. This helps keep your cost down by $10; we pass that saving directly to you. We call these kits ‘almost ready to fruit’.

This kit uses the beloved Australian Reishi strain—Ganoderma steyaertanum—known for its glossy, woody Antlers/conk fruits. With proper airflow, you get classic bracket shapes; starve it of oxygen, and you’ll see striking antler forms

Light: Requires indirect overhead light to give mushroom direction of growth.

All  Ganoderma mushrooms are medicinal but most researched Ganoderma is Ganoderma lucidum, unfortunately its not allowed to be legally grown in Australia due to being marked as a pest.

Reishi Mushroom Grow Kit – Medicinal

Ganoderma steyaertanum is a native Australian Reishi—celebrated for its shiny, lacquered conk fruit bodies and adaptability in myco-material applications. Depending on airflow and CO₂ levels, fruiting can take the form of glossy brackets or whimsical antlers. Harvested specimens are most often used for medicinal extracts, tinctures, and creative myco-material projects rather than culinary dishes. Reishi is generally only grown for medicinal purpose. They are grown, dried and powdered and tehn added intea and sipped in evening/night before sleep.

Step-by-step Instructions & Post-Harvest Care

IMPORTANT— This is an advanced fungus that needs cool, consistent humidity and excellent airflow to form proper conks rather than antlers.

Step 1 – Let It Grow (3 Weeks)

*Take the bag out of its packaging.
*Stand it upright and do not cut it like other kits. This kit will fruit inside the bag

*Please keep it away from direct sunlight, windows, fans, AC, or a wardrobe.

Need to Wait?
If you need to wait, store them in the fridge after full colonisation. They can take 40 days from baby mushroom to fully matured mushroom, so you can leave it to fruit if you are only going away for 1-2 weeks. The mushroom will seek air and come out of the air filter if you are not careful, if they do come out they will spore everywhere. It is advisable to cut open the bag and remove the antler for drying. This bag will fruit only once.

Step 2 – Fruiting & Harvest

Once colonised and ready to fruit:

1. Leave the bag upright in a indirect light with no direct airflow, avoid tubs or wardrobe even if you have door slightly open or ajar. Keep it completely upright and let mushrooms inside form for about 2 months.

2. Harvest: Fruiting bodies may take a few 8 weeks to appear and mature. Harvest when the mushroom have reached the top of the bag. Don’t let the fruiting body come out of white air filter patch.

Multiple Forms: Higher CO₂ levels will result in antler shapes; increased fresh air encourages traditional conks. If these mushrooms are left to fruit from side, they will directly form conks. Once a conk is formed, they will sporulate .Reishi is notorios to fruit excessively, that is why we do not let them form conks and let them just form antlers inside the bag.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Opening the bag: if the bag is opened indoor they will start forming conks instead of antlers and sporulate all over your home. they can spore a lot if you are not careful.

What to do if pins form inside the bag

Reishi bags are the easiest bags to fruit as it requires 0 maintenance. We want the pins to form inside the bag, do not open the bag and let them grow unrestricted.Always keep the bag upright.

Harvest the mushrooms and sun/air dry them and keep it in a airtight container with desiccants. Ensure they are completely cracker dry. Keeping a semi moist mushroom in a contianer will lead to mould.
